Melinda Wharton, Orchestra and Camp Director

Melinda Wharton has been the orchestra director at Mt. Baker Middle School in the Auburn School District for 14 years. She has been a private violin instructor and is a sought after adjudicator and clinician in the Puget Sound region. She received her Bachelors Degree in Music Education in 1996 from Western Washington University and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Washington in 1999. She was recently named Outstanding Music Educator of the year for 2007-2008 by the Green River Music Region.

Her specialty is Elementary and Middle School Orchestra, which is why she is so thrilled to offer this music camp opportunity to that exact age group.  She is positive that she has the best job in the world.







Laura Kexel, Orchestra Director

Laura Kexel taught middle school orchestra and choir in the Federal Way School District for nine years before taking her current position as director of orchestras at eight elementary schools in the Kent School District in 2007.  She is a violist and violinist and coaches students in local area youth symphonies and summer camps.  She received her Bachelors of Music in Music Education from UPS in 1997 and a Masters in Teaching from WSU, Vancouver in 1998.
